Getting Here
We're located in the heart of Bristol's harbourside area, just a short walk from the city centre. The shop front is painted dark green with gold lettering—you can't miss it.
By Train
Bristol Temple Meads station is approximately 15 minutes' walk away. Exit the station and head west along Temple Gate, then follow the harbourside path. Alternatively, catch any bus heading to the city centre and walk from there.
By Bus
Several bus routes stop within two minutes of the shop. The nearest stop is "Riverside Walk" served by routes 24, 25, and 51. The "College Green" stop in the centre is about five minutes' walk away.
By Car
Limited on-street parking is available nearby, though we recommend using one of the harbourside car parks. The Queen Square car park (BS1 4LH) is the closest, roughly 200 metres from our door.
Cycling
Cycle racks are located directly outside the shop. Bristol's cycle hire stations are nearby, making us accessible from anywhere in the city centre.
About Our Location
The building we occupy has been part of Bristol's commercial life for over 150 years. Originally a warehouse for the tobacco trade, it later served as a printer's workshop before falling into disuse in the 1990s.
When we moved in, much of the original character remained—exposed brick walls, cast iron columns, and broad wooden floorboards that have developed a satisfying creak over the decades. We've tried to preserve these features while creating a comfortable browsing environment.
The harbourside location means you can combine a visit to us with a stroll along the water, a coffee at one of the many nearby cafés, or a trip to the various museums and galleries in the area. We like being part of a day out rather than just a destination.

Frequently Asked Questions
Not at all. Our shop is open to everyone during normal hours. Just walk in and browse at your leisure. If you'd like dedicated time with a staff member for recommendations, it can be helpful to let us know you're coming, but it's not required.
Yes. Email us with the title and author, and we'll check availability and prepare it for collection. We'll hold reserved books for up to seven days. Payment can be made when you pick up.
We accept all major debit and credit cards, contactless payments, and cash. For corporate accounts, we can arrange invoice payment with net 30-day terms. Gift vouchers purchased from us are also accepted as payment.
We occasionally purchase collections that align with our stock profile, but we don't operate a regular second-hand buying service. If you have a collection to sell, please email us with details and we'll let you know if we're interested.
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in our shop. We keep a water bowl by the door during warmer months. Please be mindful of other customers and keep your pet close—some of our aisles are narrow.
We're typically open on most bank holidays with reduced hours (11am-4pm). We close on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day. Check our announcements before travelling on bank holidays.

We're always interested in hearing from publishers about new titles, particularly from independent presses and debut authors. We can't promise to stock everything, but we do read every submission with genuine interest.
Authors interested in event opportunities should send a brief proposal outlining their book, any previous event experience, and what they'd like to do with us. We prioritise authors with local connections or books relevant to our readership.
